The 650-Hour
Professional Massage Program The Massage Institute of Cape
Cod's 650-hour program provides a complete education for becoming a
professional massage therapist. The program prepares the student to pass the
National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork exams (the
national standard for proof of competency), to start a professional massage
business and to become a successful practitioner. Any individual studying for
personal interest, rather than professional licenser, is welcome to take any
course offered by the school. The school also aims to provide Continuing
Education Credits for massage and fitness professionals who need to renew
certifications. Massage Institute of Cape Cod is
constantly striving to improve its program as we are striving to become one
of the top massage schools in the country. Cost of 650-Hour
Program There is no pay-in-advance
requirement. To make the school more affordable almost all students pay class
by class. The cost is $60 for each 4 1/2 hour class. If a student pays in
advance and drops the course before it is completed, the school will refund
the unused portion of the payment. There is no cost for practicum work. 550 hours of Massage · 100 hours of practicum work at no
cost · Total cost at this time is $7,320.00 A student may apply to receive
credits for massage, anatomy and physiology, and related courses taken in
other schools. However transcripts and certificates are required for review.
You will be required to pass the exam in the specialty you are requesting
credit for. Courses Required for
Graduation The National Certification Board
of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) require that an applicant be
qualified to take their exam. We have designed our program to assist students
in accomplishing this goal. We feel it is important for graduates to strive
to attain the recognition associated with NCBTMB. The National Exam Prep
class was designed for this purpose. Students will review the material by
taking multiple choice exams which they will be able to use as study quides. Practicum Work Every massage student must do
practicum work other than fellow students. The student cannot charge for
these massages but may receive gratuities. The students must work at the
student clinic offered at the school on a regular basis. Practicum consists
of working in the Clinic under supervision, reviewing intake forms etc.
Students will be required to earn practicum hours through supervised events
such as sports events, charities etc. where they will practice their massage
training. Continuing Education
Credits Certified massage therapists may
use courses as Continuing Education Credits for periodic recertification. The
NCBTMB requires recertification every four years. To be recertified a
massage therapist must take 50 Continuing Education Units within that time.
The therapist must take 25 hours of these from NCBTMB Category A approved
Providers, while 25 hours may be taken from Category B Providers. MICC is now
a Category B provider and is in the process of applying to be a Category A
Provider. The school's business office is
located at 64 Enterprise Road Hyannis, MA 02601 phone 508-771-5352 |
